Friday April 15

This week, we began our new Unit of Study, “Life Links.” We have been sharing what we already know about what animals need, what a habitat is, and how humans can have an impact on different habitats. There have been many good discussions and the children are keen to learn more. They are also excited about our upcoming excursion to the Tampines Eco Green on Tuesday April 26th. Please sign and return the permission slip if you have not already done so.

We have started our new units in reading and writing: "Authors and Mentors" and "Character Study". This week we have read many books by author Tomie de Paola. We have been enjoying getting to know Tomie’s writing style and some of his famous characters including Strega Nona, Big Anthony as well as Tomie himself when he was a little boy.

In Math we have again been practicing our addition facts up to twenty and trying to help each other to remember them more fluently. We have also been revising counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 120. We will continue to practice our Number Talks strategies as well applying these strategies to solving story problems.

Thank you to everyone who has sent in some books for our “Book and Bake sale” to support Kuma Cambodia. The children made posters this week to put up around the Infants School. Our sale will be held on Tuesday May 3rd. The children have already been thinking about what they might be able to bake at home for the sale (with help from an adult of course!). If it is possible for you to send in some baked goods on Tuesday May 2nd for the bake sale we would appreciate it greatly. Thank you for your support for this project!

Thank you to Jay who brought in an interesting coding game to teach us. Everyone who wanted got a chance to learn some basic coding while playing this fun game.

And what a wonderful surprise we had on Friday from Ms. Jenner and baby Emily! It was lovely to See Ms. Jenner and meet Emily. The children had a lot of questions and advice for Ms. Jenner!
