Week 14 in 1LJe

We have had an action packed week in 1LJe. Highlights include a visit from our Grade 5 buddies and starting a new Reading unit, 'Readers Think and Talk About Books'.

On Monday, we started exploring new sorts in Word Study. Can you tell your parents about the words that you are sorting? Which pattern are you learning about? Do your words have short or long vowel sounds or both? Can you think of any other words that you could add to your sort?

On Tuesday, our Grade 5 buddies came to see us. We had a great time together organising and sharing our work for the Portfolio.

This week we continued to learn about the body. We have become experts about the skeleton and now we are keen to find out more!  We generated lots of questions to guide our research and are working hard in small groups to find answers to these. Tell your parents which body system you are most interested in and why. Perhaps you really want to know how the body digests food or how the heart and lungs work.....

We are very happy to be visiting Happy Lodge next week. Thank you to all of the mums and dads who have volunteered to come with us. We still need some help for our visit on December 2nd so please let us know if you can join us then.
