Week 11 in 1LJe

We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday whether you stayed in Singapore or took a trip overseas. We have had a fantastic first week back in school with some haze free days! The children enjoyed playing in the sunshine again.

This week we launched our Poetry unit. We read and listened to lots of different poems and even had a visit from Mr Morley who shared some of his favourite poems with the class. We would love parents to get involved too. If you would like to come in to school and share some poems please let me know.

In Mathematics, we are continuing with our work on Measurement. This week, we have had some fantastic discussions about why we need standard units of measure like centimetres and metres. We took advantage of the good weather and spent one of our Mathematics lessons outside....

As part of our "My Body" unit we started to think about what it means to be healthy. We came up with some great ideas including eating a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water. We will continue to focus on this over the coming weeks as well as finding out about the different systems within our bodies. Please let me know if you have any expertise in this area as we would love to learn from you.

Creative Costume Spirit Day was a great way to round off the week. The children made a huge effort and wore lots of super costumes ranging from wizards to pirates!

There are lots of slots still available for Kids Up Front this term. Please get in touch if you would like to teach us about a festival or celebration that is important to you.
