Week 6 in 1LJe

This week has been short but we still managed to fit in lots of exciting learning activities!

On Monday, Miss Andrea came to our Grade 1 Assembly to talk about Service. We thought about how this might look within our own community first and then found out more about our Local Service (Happy Lodge) and Global Service (Kuma Cambodia).

In Mathematics we have been solving addition story problems. We worked very hard at showing our thinking in different ways. We drew pictures and number lines and used equipment including counters and cubes. We enjoyed using Doodlecast on the iPads to record our ideas.

On Wednesday, we had our first Kids Up Front presentation. Harrison and his parents taught us about the Mid Autumn Festival. We listened to a story and then we assembled lanterns and tasted Mooncake. Everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed learning about this special festival! Can you tell your parents something new that you found out?

Don't forget to have a chat with your family about what you would like to teach us for Kids Up Front. You can check out the sign ups so far on the Kids Up Front page on this blog. There are still lots of dates available for this term. Term 2 is filling up fast........

Upcoming events:
Class/Individual Photographs - Tuesday 29th September
G1 Community Challenge/Amazing Race - Friday 2nd October

Have a great weekend everyone. We hope the haze clears up so that you can get out and about!

Miss J and Miss Mary
