March 18

In Math this week we enjoyed working on our new unit about patterns. The children created a unit and used this unit to create a repeating pattern. They then challenged each other to figure out what the next colour would be even when it was not shown.

Thank you to Milo and his mum who taught us about Ireland and St. Patrick’s day this week during Kids Up Front. The children especially enjoyed learning about Irish culture and asked that Milo share these links on the blog. One is an example of Irish music (which made us all feel happy) and one is an example of  Irish dancing. Well done, Milo!

For Art this week we learned about the artist Laurel Burch. We were inspired by the courage and resilience that Laurel Burch showed during her lifetime despite suffering from osteoporosis. She was an amazing self taught artist who loved bringing people joy through her art. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to us and we enjoyed looking at her art work and trying out her style which included bright colours, curved lines and cats!

The children all had a lovely afternoon with our friends from Happy Lodge. The children decided that we should take dot to dot activities as well as Easter colouring sheets to share with the residents.

The children are enjoying using cardboard to be creative and show their thinking. Could you please send in any cardboard boxes that you don’t need as the children would love to make something special out of them.
