Week 25 Friday February 12, 2016

The last week of school before Chinese New Year was a busy one with our Arts Festival as well as celebrating Asian Arts and Culture week.

The children did an absolutely amazing job with their performance and we hope you all enjoyed it. Thank you to those parents who have contributed a comment about our Arts Festival on our "padlet". You can find our padlet on the previous class blog post. Please take a moment to leave us a comment and I will share these with the children when we get back to school.

The official video of the Grade 1 Arts Festival has not been released yet, however here is the video that all of the children contributed to which played during our Arts Festival. I’m sure you will agree that the children have made some stunning pieces of art and very creative video using Minecraft. They also did a fantastic job of recording their voices and telling the story fluently and expressively.

Here is a slide show of the creative t-shirt designs that the children made for their performance.

The children saw a lion dance this week with the rest of the school.

The children were very lucky to have a chance to participate in a workshop with our differently abled friends from Epic Arts Cambodia. We were also treated to a performance by Epic Arts. Below are a few videos from our workshop and the Epic Arts Performance. Ask your child if they can remember how people from Epic Arts communicate. Ask them to give you a demonstration of how we were taught to say “thank you” and “children”. If you would like to read more about Epic Arts with your child here is a link to their website.

The children will start their swimming unit in PE on Monday. Please send a towel, swimsuit, cap and goggles to school on PE days.

I hope everyone has enjoyed a happy Chinese New Year holiday. I am looking forward to spending the next term learning with your children. We will begin new units on addition and subtraction, non-fiction reading and writing as well as Service Learning.
